Kelvin Santos
Since it was such a beautiful morning this morning, I took the slightly longer route to school through the bike trails back by Nassau Community College and around Early Ovington and Charles Lindbergh Blvds then back around Nassau Collesium, to return eastward on the bike trail along Hempstead Tpk to Hofstra. It adds a couple of miles to my commute, but it is a nice couple of miles and this morning was a particularly nice morning.
I was determined to appreciate something that is good about my bike trip into school and stopped to take a lot of pictures with the intent of writing about how easy it is to get caught up in the negative and how important it is to recognize what has been done right. I wanted to try to post something more positive after my rant yesterday.
For example, I took the picture below. Beautiful bike path, beautiful sky, beautiful trees.
Then, I came upon the scene below riding up Charles Lindbergh towards Nassau Community College.
The victim of crash number 12 on the Crash List that I've been maintaining since the September 14th crash that killed Elzire Presume was listed as an unnamed 18 year-old in serious critical condition.
That unnamed 18 year-old is now named, and he is no longer in serious critical condition.
My heart goes out to the friends and family of Kelvin Santos (2.22.97 - 10.07.15). He died the day after the crash.
I am so sorry.
