Upon arrival, the male victim, 28, was found to have suffered serious injuries to his head and body.Police arrested Frank Onolfi, 28, in front of the Baldwin train station shortly after the incident with the help of a vehicle description from a witness. Prosecutors say Onolfi admitted that he used heroin right before the incident. Authorities say eight bags of heroin were found inside the 28-year-old's car. Onolfi's attorney says his client is not guilty. Onolfi is charged with assault, vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while ability impaired by drugs. (Yes, paths, not just lanes!) They wind around Charles Lindbergh Blvd and Earl Ovington Blvd by Nassau Community College and behind the Nassau Collesium. Part of the network is a path between Eisenhower Park and Hofstra (Merrick Ave to Oak Street) on the north side of Hempstead Tpk, and along Merrick Avenue for the length of Eisenhower Park. There is even a pretty nice set of bike lanes on the road directly to the east of Nassau Collesium. I (Sylvia) will often opt for the slightly longer route to work to make use of those paths. There are definitely some issues with them such as circuits that confusingly stop just short of completing and the way it cross Meadowbrook Parkway. But over all, they are a huge positive. There is also a very nice bike path around Eisenhower Park. However, the path down Charles Lindbergh towards Eisenhower Park ends abruptly a few hundred feet from Merrick Ave. (If you are on the NB side, that leaves you in a very bad position when heading east.) So, you ride the section from the end of the bike path to Merrick Ave with traffic, but it is rarely that bad there. Once you get to Merrick Ave, you hope to cross with the light and catch the bike path that parallels Merrick Ave on the other side. However, for the only ramp to that bike path is a hole in the curb. It is like they just gave up on the bike lane system before they were done completing the circuits.
